a line segment has a starting point and end point.if the endpoints of two or more line segments happen to be one and the same then they are called as common endpoints or vertices

Common endpoints means "end to end." Two lines (or sticks or whatever) that share common endpoints are touching at their ends.

It depends on what area of math you are talking about.
The most basic definition is this:
The directed line segment PQ and CD have the same endpoints if the coordintes at Q and D are exactly the same.
In this case we can also write CD as CQ, and we can write PQ as PD.
