It's rare, but has happened to me on a couple installations, that the impellor wasn't threaded all the way down on the shaft.
It shouldn't matter what method you use for going from lo to hi or vice versa. You can acutally, just go either way instantly and not stop as you are doing.
My hunch on this, is that he's giving you the same pump, that someone is not doing anymore than tightening the impellor down, until the shaft spins, and not holding the shaft and continuing to spin it, to compress the spring in the shaft seal. That'll do it everytime. Even on lo speed, with it not snugged in, it'll travel a good 1/4 inch and come to one helluva abrupt halt, splitting the impellor shaft.
Get the guy to bench test it at his shop or threaten to stick it you know where. I doubt his techies are up to the job.

mine is a one speed and the impeller broke also.....sounds like either the impeller is not seated proper or that model has a defect.....tell him that if he does not refund ur money or get u a pump that will work u will first call ur lawyer then call the better business bureau....then inform him that u will place an add in the local paper about this company......

my brother is a lawyer and he has to write letters to company's all the time about people getting ripped off like this.....a good letter really does the trick.......also tell him that the cost of court and the lawyer fees will be included........

i take advantage of this one to get issues for my pool. I easily have replaced my pump and also you would possibly want to have quite a few that you'll be able to pick between.I easily have offered an excellent form of issues from them and they are so a lot more desirable helpful than going to a pool position.
