Actually, you're like her overprotective, rich father. She's a hottie, so she'd be pretty popular on her own, but you buy people to hang out with her so she's doesn't fall in with a "bad crowd", lots of things to occupy her time (her ice-cream shop), and basically anything to keep her away from boys.
Ken is probably a gay actor you hired to go out with her too.
This whole scheme will not end as you envision -culminating with Barbie's involvement in an incident at the Malibu beach house (concerning Mel Gibson and supercar racing down the 101), and a budding "curiosity" about lesbianism.
