The Holiday Inn Express is geared more for business travelers.

Both are nice hotels and there is not much difference but, generally speaking, the Holiday Inn offers a more upscale service. They usually have a restaurant on site and larger common areas in the hotel. A Holiday Inn Express, on the other hand, does not have a full restaurant on site but does offer a free continental breakfast along with all the basic amenities such as free high-speed Internet access.

The Inn is a tad bit more upscale and has a restaurant. The Express helps you on your way with a quick breakfast, so it is geared more toward business clients who just need a place to sleep and shower.
