Go to an executive search company (i.e., head hunter). Try the yellow pages or an industry publication.

Update the resume.
Familiarize yourself w/ on line job posting boards, like Monster
Be willing to re-locate
Find a good executive search firm that specializes in your field.
Don't leave your rolodex at your old job. After 35 years, you must have made some good contacts. Call them and tell them you are looking. They might be able to hook you up.
Set up yourself as an independant consultant. That's what everyone else who is unemployed is doing. You probably have alot to offer clients.

At the same place but are you in the same position, is that possible? I think you'd better go for a consulting company and find out more opportunties there.It may help.

Get your resume out there.

Make sure you make follow up phone calls

Stress the fact that you are EXPERIENCED!

Speak well and clearly - groom - eye contact

and last but not least

BE PERSISTENT!

You have to get out there and find that J O B. No one is gonna give it to you. Make sure they know why you are the best man for the job.
