First off, I'm gay.

Second, I live in a pretty conservative community in California.

Anyway, I am rather popular despite being out in school. Last year (my senior year) I was nominated for Homecoming King, won Best Personality, and at the end of the year, I won Prom King.

Somehow a local newspaper heard about how "mature" the students were at my school to be able to see past a stereotype and still vote me king... well, the way the article was written made it seem like I won solely b/c I was gay and people felt bad for me or something (which I assure you was not the case).

here's the article if you're interested:
http://nctimes.com/articles/2006/05/30/news/californian/52906192749.txt

Anyhow, it turned into this HUGE controversy at school and in the community and the news kept spreading and after a while I'd given a few more interviews for some gay websites, the original story was featured on a few more, my friends wrote to Ellen Degenerees, rumors abounded that Oprah had called me and was going to come visit our school.... It became overwhelming...

and then a few weeks later I was quoted in the newspaper about something for graduation and the controversy surfaced for a while more....

but yea, that's my BIG 15 minute thing--I've been in a few plays and the newspaper before, but nothing like this.

wow, that was fun! Thanks for this topic! =P

I was an awards presenter at the East Coast Florida Cappies Gala this past year (Best Comic Actress in a Play). Cappies is much like the Tony's or Oscar's but for high school theatre. That was televised.

Also, I've danced at two Orlando Magic basketball games, and been in the newspaper several times.

OK, this is really kinda sad. I was in a fashion show when I was 17 years old. i felt sick and I told the people putting on the show that I didn't feel well, they said, "you will go on anyway" blah blah blah, and I threw up on stage, all over the dress and everything! It was so embarrassing!

I would have to say my first runway show. It was unlike anything I ever experienced cameras were flashing and everyone was looking at me I felt like a major super model like Tyra Banks or Naomi Campbell. Thanks for asking because I can always share a answer for a question like that.

This right here. This very question. For one brief moment, as you read this, I am in the spot light. Don't look away. It is destiny. Can you feel it? Yeah, right there in your loins. You know you don't want this to end. But it must, it is only 15 minutes.

Remeber me fondly.
