If you could stop at some of the Lighthouses along the way, that would be great! St Augustine is so nice. Our 10 yr old walked to the top and got a certificate saying he climbed the stairs! They also have a Ripleys there, that is really awesome! There are some outlet stores on 95 right before you get to Rocky Mount, about 80 miles from there. They are nice.

If you can stop, check out St. Augustine, Jacksonville, FL, and Savannah, GA historic district. I am unaware of how much enjoyment the kids will get out of Savannah as far as activities go. It is a beautiful city worth seeing, especially the River Front. St. Augustine is the oldest city in America and has some cool stuff for kids, likle the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, and many other places kids like. After Savannah though, it is a long and uneventful ride to Rocky Mount, NC.
I used to make the trek from Tampa to NC all of the time and unfortunately there is not much to do if you can not afford to stray very far from I-95. In South Carolina, the car ride is going to consist of reading a ridiculous amount of South of the Border billboards. Waiting for the crown jewel billboard reading "You are never a sausage at this place, You are always a wiener at Pedro's!" Pretty sad... My family and I actually went up in the white trash natural wonder of the world, sombrero. The view from the top was far from beautiful.\, unless you like views of trailer parks and clothes lines. If you are lucky you may witness a domestic violence act or see a car on blocks in some ones yard. I would not recommend stopping here. It is a tragic nightmare. I remember my sister paying to use the rest room. I suggest portable video games or DVDs if possible. I apologize of being the bearer of bad news... Enjoy your trip.

They have a museum there with info about The Marines and lots of cool stuff to look at.. or you can tour historic Savanna GA.. the downtown area is cool.. and they have a HUGE mall.... lol... theres also an Army Airfield there and stuff too... If your close enough stop in Charleston SC at the navy yard... they have old ships there that you can tour..

South of the Border on the NC - SC line. You can't miss it, they must spend everything they make on billboards. Also historic Savannah, Ga. Beautiful down on the riverfront.
