Get yourself a copy of PrintShop, you can do everything on it and its easy, buy cardstock and paper for flyers at Staples and you could get off real cheap, trust me, I've had to make things like that on an allowance of $100 or less

If you want to make it clear that you are a serious professional, you need to make SOME investment in business cards. Consider hiring a graphic design student from a local university to do layout, then get them printed at Kinkos at the minimum. Same thing goes for brochures.
When you look at business cards someone printed on their home computer compared to professional work, the difference is very obvious. Make the investment to make your leave-behinds professional, and you will be perceived as more professional too!

Biz cards are really easy. Buy the perforated card stock at an OfficeMax or Depot, and they usually tell you in the package (or have a download from their website) how to set up a MS Word Template.

It's much cheaper than you might think to have them printed for you by a professional. But, with microsoft word, photoshop, and maybe a little paint, you can do it yourself easily. You have to print them on cardstock and cut them out with a paper cutter. Be careful, though. If you don't cut them into perfect rectangles, it will be obvious that you made them yourself.

Go to Staples or some other office supply store, they'll have sheets of blank business cards that you can print at home.
