I just installed AVG and did a virus scan, I had some trojan horses and they were sent to the virus vault. Now am I supposed to click "Empty Vault"? Does that mean that they get deleted, or that they just get returned to my computer?

(i'm sure that's a dumb question, but i'm a dumb person.)

AVG moves program files with viruses to "the vault" so that if you have problems running your PC, you can get them back out of the vault. If your PC is running fine without the files, then you can empty the vault. But as long as they are sitting in the vault they are not able to run or harm your PC in any way. It is just a extra precaution AVG takes to be sure it does not remove anything you need. 99.9% of the time you can just empty the vault. If you are not sure, wait a day and then empty.

AVG is an excellent virus scanner (have used it for three years), but it does not clean spyware (no virus scanner does). If you are not already, check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaw... and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/)...... to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections. All three programs are free.

Well Bob if the software is smart enough to find and isolate the virus don't you think it would be smart enough to delete it when emptying the vault?

All the software is doing is giving you a chance to save something you may not have intended to delete. You should be fine in emptying that vault.

Virus vault is a seperate place allocated by AVG in hard disk to store infected files.

Removing virus infected files from vaults completely removes the infected files from your hard disk and free the disk space...

When you are sure that the infected file will no longer be of use you can remove them from vaults....

That is not a dumb question. Viruses are scary and can do a lot of damage. I was the same way with the first few I found on my computer. The last thing I wanted to do was put it back in by making a mistake.

That became scareware urging you to hit its cyber web website. because you went there, it may now have downloaded some authentic malware. it really is now time for some authentic scans. once you've an anti-virus, make positive it has the present virus definitions and run a experiment with it in secure Mode or secure Mode with Networking. that regularly prevents malware from protecting itself. in case you don’t have one, a lot of human beings right here swear through AVG (it’s loose). I advise you also acquire advert-conscious loose and Spybot S&D (they’re loose), deploy them, replace them and run them, back in secure Mode With Networking. also, turn off equipment fix to evict any copies of undesirable stuff that could want to be lurking there. To get into secure Mode or secure Mode with Networking: a million. signal off and reboot your gadget. 2. at the same time as the gadget begins the reboot series, press the F8 key back and back. 3. choose secure Mode or secure Mode with Networking from the ensuing menu. 4. Login. If the malware has replaced your password, attempt logging in as Administrator. through default, Administrator has no password. 5. The gadget will proceed booting, even with the undeniable fact that the domicile windows computer will seem diverse. 6. once you're comprehensive doing what you want to do, signal off and reboot decrease back into universal mode. be conscious that no matter if the anti-malware courses eliminate the malware, they could no longer be able to opposite the outcomes. search for the cyber web for plausible fixes. replace and run each little thing typically, no longer basically once you imagine you've already got malware. sturdy success.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
