Out of state joint custody ...?

Question

Just wanted to hear how people feel about out of state joint custody. I know it's not ideal, though I'd like to hear how people make it WORK. If you see your kids once a month, holidays, summer, and school breaks is that enough to be a "parent"?

I couldnt do it...I would miss my babies way too much and worry a great deal about their safety and well being : (
