I assume you may be from another country. Perhaps it was an international driver's license that you lost.
Here in USA, for ground transportation there are no border check points on state borders. Travel is unrestricted. However, you may be called upon to prove your identity when using trains, or buses that will cross state borders - and of course for planes, positive ID is required. Your passport will be enough for that purpose.
Of course, as others have pointed out, you will need a driver's license if you intend to drive. An international driver's license can be obtained at AAA or other auto clubs. You might also check at a US Post Office branch. They handle passport applications and may be able to help with an international driver's license.
Best wishes.

If you are driving you will need a drivers license. Usually a driver's license from another country will work but there is a time limit to this and of course you have to have your driver's license with you. A picture ID is a good idea to have with you at all times. I'm assuming you are not from the U.S.? If you have a passport carry that at all times. Keep in mind in the U.S. we ask to see an ID a lot! And that usually means a government issued picture ID, a passport works!

Ok
Driving = Driver's License.
Flying = Domestically: Driver's License; Internationally Passport or Driver's License and Birth Certificate (Until the end of 2006)
You CAN drive about the US without the Lisence but if you get caught the ticket would just not be worth it.

If you are traveling inside the United States, you will need a drivers license, proof of insurance on your vehicle and a vehicle registration. That is just in case you get pulled over by the police. You can go to you D.M.V. and get a new licenses. If you can't, the police will just call you in to the station by using your social security number. That's how it is in the state of Ohio.

You don't need any to travel from state to state. If YOU are driving and don't have a license....I don't think that's legal. I know you can use a passport or military ID for identification, but I think for driving, only a driver license is required...no exectpions.

If you're driving, you need your driver's license. If it's your car, you need the registration card. And most states require proof of liability insurance on the car.
If you're not the driver, you don't need any documents to travel from state to state.
