Allowance? What is she--her husbands child? Where is the husband from, the stone age? Women don't get 'allowances.' We pay the bills, use what we have to for food, home essentials, kids and adults clothes, etc, then we take what's left and figure out how much the husband needs for gas, food, etc for work each week. So, in essence, HE is the one that gets the allowance. Unless the woman is very foolish with money, she should spend it as she sees fit to spend it. But, bills, kids, and home and auto repairs come first. The rest is up to her. If you want to have a woman have an allowance, then go get a kid and give him or her an allowance. Women are NOT kids. We DON'T get allowances. We help with the household, money, paying bills, kids, etc. We do as much work as the men, if not more. So, we deserve to get paid for our work as much as the men do!

Are you kidding? Why don't you hire a cook, a house keeper, a full time nanny and a hooker. Add all the up for the week and see what you have left. You should give her your check since I'm sure she is also the bookkeeper and pays your bills. That's how its done at my house. All this and someone that loves you? How can you put a price on that

I dont see it as an allowance the two of you should sit down and work out a budget and make it so each of you have equal responsibility for making it work. All things need to be in that budget entertainment housing utilities and car expenses as well as savings and debt repayment.

Jointly worked out budgets will give both the sight to see what there is to spend and will not blow the budget out of proportion or reveal where the spending was that busted the budget.

Good Luck to You and God Bless!!

Smart women (like me for example) are the ones who handle the household finances. I would rather keel over than be given an allowance. Last I checked I was a grown adult who earned a salary of my own. I spend what I want when I want. If I know it's something he won't agree with, I don't tell him. It eliminates a lot of arguments.

Any man should respect his wife more than that...Even if she doesn't work outside the home....being a stay at home wife and/or mother is a JOB too! Just as important as any mans job outside the home..You are married and are EQUAL partners in your relationship...No matter who makes more money.....it should be split equally!

Their joint income - whether she's working or not, it's joint income - should be shared equally. Adults sit down, work out a budget, and stick to it. That includes YOU, brother! You don't go blowing money on stuff just because it appeals to you, nor should she. That takes maturity and disclipline.
And never, but never, act as if you're handing money to a lesser person out of the goodness of your heart. The woman should be considered your equal. If you think otherwise, she's your better!
