I have a motorola v3 razr and get poor reception in my apartment. I was wondering if anyone has experience with an external antenna they can recommend? Does it work?

There is no port you could plug it into if there was one...However, several wireless providers are working on "In Home Signal Boosters" These will cost between 50 to 100, and look like a small box you just plug into the wall. Keep a look out on your wireless providers site...I know tmobile and cingular about to release them...Sprint and Verizon are sure to follow...

The Razr uses an internal antenna. I've never seen an external one for it, aside from the ones that you install in a car. There is a connector on the back, on the lower left hand corner for a car antenna, under the small rubber cap. You have to pry the cap off with the point of a knife. You might try one of those and place it high in a window and see if it helps.

Those "boosters" that fit under the battery are worthless. Save your money!

The port you're speaking about isn't an antenna jack, yet an RF port for finding out applications. utilising an exterior antenna voids your assure, and on some telephones, basically eliminating the plug voids the warranty. further, the exterior antenna plug can easily damage the phone. when you're in rural factors, you'll war with reception regardless because there likely isn't a lot signal available. cellular telephone coverage is in accordance with utilization. Low inhabitants skill low utilization. also, the vast use of exterior antennas became with analog signals in tri-mode telephones. As of February 18, 2008 the analog equipment might want to be decommissioned lower than federal rules, and maximum major cellular telephone organizations have already presented they're switching it off on that day because protecting the old equipment is extreme priced and for years no new towers were equipped with analog. regrettably when you're in very rural factors (I stay in a unmarried), you'll discover some lifeless spots. it really is the fee paid for low inhabitants density.
