High profile careers. More stress than normal people. Jobs that take them away from their spouses for long periods of time. Constantly being in contact with very attractive members of the opposite-sex and having little to no will power or self-discipline. Constantly needing ego gratification. Boundaries between "friends" that are unclear and problematic for the relationship. Accepting that short marriges are the norm and therefore easily given up on without trying to make it work... Many other reasons.

All publicity. It's whatever their agent/manager/PR person or whoever says is good for their career especially if they want to stay A-list celebs.
Oh and then they always say that they were going in different directions or the pressure got to them.
