The guy I bought it from sent a multilingual disc that is supposed to make it work for me. He sent directions, but they are very vague. I can't even get it to download. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oy, this happens a lot on eBay. Many people get a multi-language Thai version of the game. I have not had a Thai version of the game but the subject comes up so much in different forums that I keep a copy of instructions handy now.

I'll paste the solution here and include the link below so you can go check out the source where it shows this is a successful solution.

Of course, if you follow the directions, the first thing you should do is BACKUP the registry and save/export it on your desktop before changing it.

Now here are the directions to change from Thai to English in The Sims 2 game

I found someone else who has exactly the same problem with the Thai multi-language (E-bay) version.......and here's the solution....

Step 1:
Go to start, then Run. Type in regedit. Press OK.

Step 2:
Locate where you installed Sims 2 University. For me it was programe files/EA games.
Under language change the setting to English UK (double click the icon to allow you to change the default)
Under Locale change the setting to en_uk
Under region make sure the code is MX08004261

Step 3:
Locate the file called 1.0 (it is in the Sims 2 university file that you were just in)
Under Language make sure the value data is 13 hexadecimal (double click the icon to allow you to change the default)
Under LanguageName change the setting to English UK

Close the file and then play the game.

I hope you get it running. Uni is so cool. You can have sims with higher education jobs and ability to lock more wants. You can also bring Sims back to life with the Resurrect thingie that calls the Grim Reaper (you have to pay Grim about 10K simoleans or your guy comes back as a zombie!) -- You also get that wacko CowPlant and band instruments, a (juice) kegger and a strange hookah bubble blower that even makes kids high. :)

Have fun!!

Tell him that you're not happy with the product, if there is any trouble report him to ebay, as he has sold you a product that you are unable to use.
