I'm trying to move a big silver canister midway up an electric pole in my backyard. Is it possible to move this to a pole about 75' down. If so, is this something I can attempt myself (trying to save money)

Yes, you can definately do this yourself. Here's how you do it:

1) wrap yourself in copper wiring.
2) climb up the pole
3) climb back down the pole to fill out your last will and testament
4) climb back up the pole
5) grab the big silver canister with one hand and the nearest wire within reach with the other hand.
6) die

You and Sipitang ought to get together and eat some electricity

if the pole is in use by the power company then you cannot do it your self. the big silver canister is a question for me too... not sure what you talking about there. Asking the power company to move a pole is costly if they will do it.

No! There is a limit that wire can be stretched, besides the pole is not yours it belongs to the utility company. The big silver canister is probably the transformer. It will cost you BIG$, but the line could be buried.
