it should be 65 pounds,,but you don't do it all at once,,do it 3 different sequences,,and check the manual,,ford change the torque on them ,,because they was having trouble with them blowing gasket,s,,and I'm not sure if the number i gave you is the old,,or the new specs on it,,i own a repair shop,,but I'm not near a book to look at it for sure,,anyway,,always check everything anyone tells you on here anyway,,we can all be wrong sometimes,,good luck with it.,,i need to add this also,,you need to get new head bolts for it,,the old ones stretch out to bad to re-use.

Firtst of all, you should understand that this engine has "torque-to-yield" head bolts and are considered as not re-usable. The head bolts should be replaced.
The bolts are actually stretched when the torque sequence is done and may break under a re-torque.
With that said, the torque procedure is as follows:

1- Tighten all bolts in sequence to 44 ft lbs.
2- Loosen all two turns and retighten to 44 ft lbs.( this sets the gasket for the true torque procedure)
3-Turn all bolts in sequence 90 degrees
4-Turn all bolts an additional 90 degrees

Trust me, this procedure will work with the Fel-Pro gasket or the Ford replacement gasket.
And please be sure to replace the head bolts.

The head bolts require 75 ft lbs of torque. Check with Mitchell,
or Haynes for the torque sequence. Start at 50 ft lbs, and then repeat the torque sequence at 75
