why did you folks re-elect that mayor that failed to evacuate you from Hurricane Katrina ? I read that he turned down 100's of buses made available, because he wanted "greyhounds" instead of school buses....he messed up as much as Bush and FEMA, yet you wanted him back in office ...

Um, people were told several days in advance to get the f out and they didn't. Now I'm 456 lbs but if I saw on the news to get the f out, I'd get the f out. Even if I didn't have a car, I'd walk. I could stand to walk 12 hours a day for a couple of days if it meant saving my life.

Who was to blame for Katrina? Mother Nature. It wasn't totally Nagin's fault that no one was evacuated. Where was Blanco? FEMA? the Bush Administration? What mattered was that Nagin was down their in the trenches from day one after the floods came. He was getting his face out there and he was standing up for the people of New Orleans. He admitted there were shortfalls and that he was responsible for some of them. Other persons in charge felt spreading the blame would be the best thing to do.
