I believe things happen for a reason. But sometimes things that do happen just don't seem to make any sense (be it something good or bad). Then at some point later on another event may take place causing you to finally understand the reason for the prior event.

I completely agree. I try to live by the motto everything happens for a reason. Not only does it make me appreciate when good things happen, but it makes me feel better when the bad comes along because I know there was a reason, and it will get better.

I think sometimes we make bad decisions, and cause events to take a different course. Eventually, what was supposed to happen, will happen. It sometimes just takes longer than necessary because we didn't follow the course we were supposed to follow.

If things happen for a reason, what is the reason for murder, rape, child abuse, weather that completely wipes out populations of people and animals and plant life...etc? I'm a firm believer that things do NOT happen for a reason, and because of that I constantly wonder why things happen in my life, and in general. I think people just WANT to think things happen for a reason, because it's easier than the uncertainty of why it happened.

I agree with the first answer. I know at this time in my life I am exactly where I am supposed to be because I am learning, giving and loving more than I ever have. I try not to question everything too much.
