And the new HEMI is just an term the advertizing people are using right now. Like GT in the 70's and TURBO in the eightys. Four Door Sports Car in the ninetys. This generations flavor of the month. GM's 6.0 L LS-2 motor makes 400 hp who could want for any thing more on the street!

Okay - let's clear up some confusion for anyone who gets this far down on your list of responses. Hemi is short for hemispherical and is referring to the type of cylinder head that an engine has. (Sometimes these are called pent-roof heads.) Hemispherical heads are important to complete burn and are one of the most noted ways that engines have evolved. There are other styles of heads/chambers, such as the wedge type.
NOW - Just because Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth used Hemi as an identifier on their vehicles does NOT mean that they were or are the only company using this technology. Ford/Mercury and GM/Chevrolet/Oldsmobile and several other companies have in fact used and are in fact using pent-roof designs in their engines. That means that there are hemispherical heads on non-Mopar car/truck engines. When you see hemi Capitalized or in all CAPS, you have someone referring to the Chrysler Hemi specifically. When hemi is not in caps, the reference is being made to the technology that is in a cylinder head, specifically the pent-roof type of chamber.
