Yes, he's being blamed for almost everything (even things he couldn't possibly control).

I think W is a product of our times.
We've had many embarassing, ineffectual,or otherwise undesirable presidents who shall pass into history unremembered. But some of those guys had the good fortune to be in office during times of relatively benign eras of our history (who's gonna remember Gerald Ford in 100 years?!).
Not to mention that our attitude as a nation has changed over time.W would probably have been regarded as a hero if he were running things during WWII,or the Cuban missile crisis.
He (or maybe WE) just had the bad luck to be alive to be elected president during our current global situation!

Bingo. Ding-ding-ding! It's a good thing. With things in such a sorry state, thoughtful people can't help but feel depressed and morose. They need something to amuse and Bush puts his foot in his mouth so regularly and makes such funny faces that it's comic relief.

The Republicans have been very good at calling anyone who opposes them "anti-american". It has frightened many reporters into giving Bush a pass and not being as thorough as they were with Clinton.

It would have been nice if we had gotten the president the people elected in 2000 (Al Gore), but the corrupt Supreme Court appointed Bush, and he has been busy messing up the world ever since.

he is heavily scrutinized, as presidents after him will be.

in earlier times, it was unthinkable media wise to treat the president in such a fashion.
but it could be a good thing.
