Well at first its ok to take baths, it really helps make you feel better, and yes, not tooo hot, it can hurt the baby. Your temperature rises, so does the babies. Doctors dont usually recomend taking too many baths especially towards the end of your pregnancy. If you sit in dirty water too long it can cause an infection and thats not too good when you are pregnant. Just be careful and make sure you shower and wash your hair and dirt off of your body before taking a shower, then the water will be clean. Taking a shower cant cause a miscarriage, but an infection can cause your uterus to be irritated and cause you to go into labor too early. I would talk to your doctor on your next visit.

This is the biggest myth. YES! You can take a bath. The docs suggest you do not take a very hot bath but I think this is also a bunch of crap. I am pregnant. I live in Japan. Here in Japan we have hot bath houses. These are community bath houses where you wash and then soak in hot pools of water. I see pregnant Japanese women there ALL THE TIME. It doesn't hurt their babies. I brought this up with my doc and she said if I took a hot bath then I'd be cooking my baby.
Does this seem logical to you? That means that even when I'm not pregnant and I'm taking a bath I'm cooking my insides. So, wouldn't a hot bath always be dangerous--pregnant or not? Also some claim it is because your body temperature goes too hight. Okay then, what the hell do I do when it is over 100 degree outside and 100% humidity in the middle of summer? My body temp is surely high then. Isn't that harming my baby. Should all women in hot climates move to colder climates during pregnancy to avoid a miscarriage?
It is a huge myth that is made worse by naive doctors who are afraid of getting sued.

You can take baths, just don't use strong soaps or strong bubble baths. Use luke warm water and gentle cleansing products. Later in the heaver months you might choose not to just because it can be a pain getting out of the tub, lol. Also, no hot tubs, something about the heat can cause problems for the babies, I think they get overheated in the womb.
Check with your doctor or local midwife if in doubt.

you can take lukewarm baths, but not if your water has broken.
You can't go in hot tubs as the temp of the water will raise your body temp in a matter of seconds and that can cause a miscarriage. You are not to let your body temp rise above 102 degrees at anytime of your pregnancy.

Cause a misscarriage is way too much to say. Well, when saying not to take a bath is a worried of the water quality and the sanitary of the place you taking a bath. It a worried of dirty water cold travel up the vagina to the cervix, and cause all kind so infections. And of course--slippery. It's nothing to worry if your tub is clean and anti slip.

I take baths all the time im 17 weeks pregnant. I asked my midwife and she said its perfectly fine. Just avoid hot tubs and saunas. If your body temperature gets over 102 it can be harmful to the baby.

Taking baths is fine while you are pregnant, just not too hot. You can also go swimming. But don't go into hot tubs. Enjoy a nice long soak Hun. It will make you feel better.
