I like a variety- rock, heavy metal, pop...I still love stuff from the 70s and 80s because that was the era I grew up. I still love the old school Duran Duran and Madonna, but I still get in to Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, the Doors, etc.

1950s and 1960s Jazz, which compares to today's music like a Caucasian or Persian rug compares to wall-to-wall from Empire Today, or like Spaten compares to Bud Light.....

Miles Davis (any period), John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Wes Montgomery....

Otherwise I like classical, blues, 60s and 70s soul, and apart from that only the truly best classic rock and classic country.

It's not that I'm old either - I just like quality. And it's not that I like "softer" music or music of a particular genre. Again, I just like quality. I have a few Black Sabbath CDs - Geezer Butler was a pretty good bassist. But I must admit I don't listen to them often - - he was, after all, no Willie Dixon (and neither was rock's best bassist, John Entwistle). Seneca was right - life is short. Why settle for less?

If you're sitting there thinking "wtf is he talking about," I'll recommend you start with the following:

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
Art Blakey - Indestructible
Art Blakey - Drum Suite
Miles Davis - ESP
Miles Davis - Round About Midnight
Miles Davis - Miles Smiles
Dizzie Gillespie - Jambo Caribe
Art Blakey - Moanin'
Getz/Gilberto
Stan Getz - Captain Marvel
Miles Davis - In a Silent Way
Miles Davis - Sorcerer
Charlie Parker - Cole Porter Songbook
Miles Davis - Seven Steps to Heaven
John Coltrane - Standards
John Coltrane Plays the Blues

Any Good Music. Can be EMINEM, Mozart, David Sanborn, Alan Jackson, Billy Joel, Beatles -- as long as the musicality is good, I can usually find something to like!
