First- Skin care is really important.
Do this first. Apply sunscreen every day Oil of Olay products are really good for beginners for skin care. Just get the basics. You need sensitive skin Products- not oily. The oil is from your food intake- stop eating crap and that will go away. Use moisturizer on your skin the minute you get out of the shower at night.
Then get spray on foundation (test color on your face at jawline up toward cheek 1" thick unblended buy the closest match) with a pressed translucent power. Be "fresh face", too much makeup is just bad.
Wear mascara and light shade lipstick or gloss. Subtle eyeshadow, neutral colors that play up the color of your eyes- always your eyes, the lips match the outfit.
Have a professional "eyebrow shaper" establish the shape of those brows. Don't just whack at them. Pay for it, it will be kinda expensive but look for a high end salon. They are hugely important on your face, much more so than any lipstick-really.
Cosmetic counters will smell a virgin and sell you stuff you don't need. Go to a beauty college and get facials ( cheap and good).
Good luck.

If you are going to start using make-up, first you have to learn to protect your skin:
1. First apply a moisturizer to keep your face hydrated and prevent wrinkles.
2. Use a foundation to cover skin imperfections. For your type of skin it will work a foundation for combined skin. One for oily skin will absorb too much oil from your face and will make it dry. Look for one with solar protector included (SPF 15 is better)
3. Apply loose powder.
4. Blush
5. Mascara and eye liner
6. Lipstick or gloss
You are done!

I stated wearing makeup in my 20,s & I can,t even remember how I got statrted, but now in my 40,s with need for a very expesive makeup, well. Anyway when your first stating out I would highly recomend the cheapest you can find, cause you can,t return used makeup, the ones you bye will say if they are for oily, dry, normal etc, on them, just bye a small bottle of coverup, blush, eyeliner, they come in small sizes I,ve found them, & you & mom or a friend just sit at home in a well lit room & experiment, it should be fun, good luck.

Get some skin cleanser pads (or lotion) for your forehead and nose. A few times a day, blot (not rub) with a tissue to soak up any extra oil, then check your face if you are wearing makeup.
Going to a department store and asking for a free make-over is a good idea. They can tell you about what kinds of make-up to use and give you good ideas about what colors, etc. to use. They will try to sell you stuff of course, but you don't have to buy it. If they do a really good job of teaching you about stuff, maybe buy something easy for you to afford to thank them for their efforts.

Try BonneBell "no shine" powder (or any similar powder). It's not expensive at all and I think it's great for starters!
Just find the one that matches your skin tone and make sure it blends on your skin. Just apply it on your t-zone (nose and forehead) to make sure it doesn't get oily. You really don't need expensive creams or foundation. Hope that works for you!

Use a Clinique foundation. They are oil free and very natural looking. If Clinique is too expensive (you can check in on them at your local mall), head to Target and look for an oil free foundation that fits your natural skin tone. Have extra money to spend?? Bare Minerals...look it up. It works amazingly on oily to normal skin..I love 'em. :)
Good luck ~ Elle

if you're skin is on the oily side, you want a foundation that goes on in a powder or a semi-dry formula. there are many foundations that are made especially for oily skin (neutrogena is one i think). if you're skin is mostly normal, you could probably use any foundation you want, but carry powder with you in case your nose gets shiny. always use a good face clenser to wash the make-up off, too. the prevents problems.
here's my personal guide to putting make-up on ( you don't need to use all these products, but whichever ones you do use on in this order)
start with a clean face, if you need it use some face lotion...i need this especially during the winter.
concealer - concealer is for areas of your skin that are darker than you want them. pick a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin, and put it on the dark spots under your eyes or black heads. blot it lightly with the tips of your fingers
foundation - foundation makes your skin tone look even. they have guides for picking the right shade in teh make-up isle. apply a light coat evenly everywhere..i use my fingers, you could use a make-up sponge or something similar.
powder - should match your foundation. you apply a little powder everywhere, and on your neck too, because it seals the foundation and concealer so they don't smudge. don't put too much on...after i put powder on, i take a tissure and ligtly dab my face to take off any extra...also keep some in your purse if you get shiny during the day
blush - apply some bright colored brush to the apples of your cheeks and blend (upward) toward your hair line
skip bronzer if you're new to make-up
eye shadow - you can experiment with eye shadow...try to pick colors that complement your eye color...if you have big eyes, don't put too much on really high (like at your brow level) or you'll look like a witch...a make-up artist told me that
mascara - if you have light hair (blonde or light shades of brown) use brown-shaded mascara. if you have dark hair, use black. try to keep mascara even, when it starts to look clumpy, it looks fake, and the idea is to look like you're not wearing make-up
lip gloss - try to out line the shape of your lips...and the more shine, the fuller your lips look!
one final note, try to accent EITHER or eyes OR your lips, never both. you will look too made up, unnatural, and kindof well, not good. if you pick and intense color for your eyes, (ie, peacock blue) keep the lips to a minimum (pick gloss)...and vice versa.

Buy some fairly cheap basics such as mascara, foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner. Use these cheap products to practice with and when you think you're getting good at it splash out on some better quality make-up.
You could also take pictures of yourself with different styles of make-up on and then compare them afterwards to see what suits you.
Good luck!
