Those are the 'farm teams' of the major league clubs. Single A is rookie league level. AAA is the level right below the big league clubs. Most players that are called up the majors are called from the team's AAA club. Major league players usually go down to AAA for a rehab assignment if they've been injured. When Roger Clemens signed mid-season with the Astros, he had to play games in A, AA, and AAA for 'practice' before he actually played with the Astros. Check out www.minorleaguebaseball.com . There might be a team near where you live.

A triple A team is the highest level of minor league baseball. There are 5 levels. Rookie league, where most of the new young high school drafts play immediately after the draft. Short season A ball where most of the college drafts play immediately after the draft. Long season A ball where young returning minor leaguers play. Double A ball where most of the organizations best young prospects play. Triple A is the highest level where most of the older minor league prospects play. Most organizations place there Triple A team close the the Big League city so that they can immediately call up a player to replace an injured player. Players generally can move from Double A to the bigs about as easy as they can from Triple A.

AAA is the highest level of the minor leagues. This is where most major-league call-ups are brought up from. AA is the next lowest level, followed by A. There are also "rookie leagues" and independent leagues. These might be comparable to "A ball", but are usually thought of as lower. If you have high-school stars locally who get drafted, they'll likely start out in A ball and work their way up from there.
