elimination of almost any phenomenon in a society is nearly impossible. what most societies throughout history end up doing is minimising the phenominon to a manageable level and going forward.
societies minimise certain elements by taking away the payoff of those elements. as this pertains to racism, the payoffs are a feeling of superiority on a personal level and greater monetary profit or share of resources on a systematic level.
the systematic level cannot be dealt with without coming up with new tools to work in our present economy or revamping it altogether. therefore racism is more easily dealt with at the personal level by taking away the payoff of the feeling of personal superiority. i believe this can be done and is being done in many cases through the influence of the media. once more people adopt a certain view, then others who view differently from them will be censured. this censure has the adverse effect of causing people who believe contrary to the larger group to gather themselves together. such people become fringe elements and their effect is minimised.
this is already partly the case with groups like the skinheads and the klan being considered groups that are out of the mainstream. in order to achieve a further minimization of racism, you would have to adjust the accepted societal definition of what is unacceptably racist to make it more broadly censuring.

Maybe one thing is to stop having "Miss Black America". I have been curious as to why that is allowed. If the Miss America Pageant didn't allow Blacks to enter ...then I would understand. There is so much of this type of things that go on...there will always be a separation's because people won't let it go and everyone just be who they are regardless of color.

If every race could come together at a gathering, and share eachothers knowledge, wisdom, and teachings, we will see that regardless of peoples racist opinions, we will all have to depend on eachother in the near future, one way or another. We have to accept eachother these days, we have no choice. Besides, imagine what we can achieve if the world only knew what the world knows. Setting aside our differences, we need to come together and share.

Teach about justice more generally. Racisim is one kind of injustice. US citizens constitute a perpetrator population with no morality except within what they think of as their own tribe. To them, killing someone of a different color or birthplace is of no more consequence than killing a monkey. So a whole different ethical outlook has to be taught, that of justice for all. Along with that must go the advocacy of the scattering of power rather than concentration of power. Most US political immorality has to do with concentration of power. Everyone must coalesce for justice for all. Everyone should see that each person will benefit personally once the principle of justice for all has widespread support. And don't be afraid to call for indictment of the Democrats and Republicans for their war crimes. So long as one of us is in chains, none of us is free.

What do you think causes racism in America today?
Maybe, if both sides would examine their reasons for the hatred and the distrust, we might be able to make a start.....

Human nature will always be with us. Therefore racism and prejudice will always be around. That doesn't mean we should just give up. Any improvements to relationships between different races are victories.

I think racism is a symptom of organized religion. The only way to get rid of racism is to get rid of the religions whose policies and belief systems support unequal treatment of people.

My opinion is that is it the Blacks, Latinos, Asians, etc that are racists not the White people. How many people can truly say they are white? Unless you are a blue-blood Brit you are not "white". Have you ever seen the way Oprah and Montel act when other black people come to their shows? They treat the totally different.

That is a very delicate issue, because you can not change someone elses beleif and besides that "it is racist to discriminate racists", we are doing the same as them.
