I'd give it a chance. We haven't even seen the primary paint schemes on the cars yet. Nobody liked the Chase for the Nextel Cup at first, and for the most part the idea was a home run. This'l be the same situation with the COTs.

Well according to NASCAR the "car of tomorrow" is going to provide fans with a closer brand of racing much like the truck series currently enjoys. They are supposed to be less dependent on aerodynamics making it so that drivers can pull out of line and make a pass.We hear all the time about a drivers car being great while running in clean air but being junk if they are running behind someone, the car of tomorrow is supposed to make that a thing of the past. The drivers seat is also going to be moved closer to the center of the cockpit making drivers a little safer in the event of a crash. You can bet NASCAR is going to be watching and listening closely to see how this is accepted by drivers and fans alike and will respond in the appropriate way.

I sure hope so! I love nascar racing but I think that nascar has gone over board on this project. I hope enough fans stop going to races and then by doing this the sponsors will force the car of tomorrow to disappear. I think safety is important but honestly when was the last serious injury. They came up with some good safety devices like the Hanns device, roof flaps, and even some roof escape hatches. I think if fans boycott some races that they would change their mind.

I'm sure an ugly car might hurt NASCAR's popularity a tiny bit, but in the long run I don't think it will make much of a difference. NASCAR fans appear to be pretty resiliant - they've stuck around through the change of the main sponsor (Winston to Nextel), and through arbitrary rule changes that in many opinions were not for the best.

You have posted a good question. I think that by making the body the same you loose the identity of the makes and now you can only tell the difference by the sponsors. Now about the car makers you don't have the difference between makes and the manufactures will not need to change body styles for the street, and also how can you tell if Toyota really wins by not having their own body style. Picture this why don't we look at Indy car they all look the same don't they?

I don't think so, Nascar survived the super birds in the 70's and they had a hugh wing on the back. Frankly I do wish the cars looked more like production cars but I understand why Nascar uses one template.

I am biased(very), but I hate the sports car style wings and that front end has got to go. Rear spoilers is Cup racing, not wings. How long will it take to have those fly into a crowded area? Sad part is, racing is still racing, and I will have to watch, but my dollars and attention will start going to IRL and more sports car racing like NASA, SCCA, IMSA, and Le Mans.

people seem to forget how the cars looked like in the 70's and 80's. i think it would make it exciting again. i've been a fan since 81', and i think since the mid 90's, superspeedway racing has gotten boring. i think the yearly truck race in daytona is one of the best racing there is. so i hope the car of tomorrow would bring back the slingshot again.

The cars don't look like anything from the showroom floor now. They can't be any uglier than a doorstop shaped dirt late-model and people flock to the track to see them put on a show.

im sure there ugly, but nascar is not about looks...the car is safer and it will helpl maintain wat they can and cant do to there cars..and since they all look alike(shape wise) then there will not be any more problems with the building they did...so no they shouldnt make this the sport of yesterday...
