My printer (HP Deskjet 722C) has only plug in for LPT1 whatever cable and back and front of new computer only has USB ports. I am needing the cheapest fix since the new computer is a recent expensive acquisition and easiest - cause it's taken many hours to get this computer back on line and set up and I am tired of messing with it. :)
Thank you in advance for being so helpful!

Head over to Radio Shack and get a LPTcable - USB adaptor.

Plug the printer cable into the adaptor, and it into the USB port an print to your heart's content.

I work at an office supply store and most printers do not come with a cable. These are add on items that need to be purchased separately. If the printer has the old type of cable you will have to purchase a converter to make your printer adaptable. These should be available at any superstore (walmart, target, i.e.), office supply stores (office depot, officemax, etc) or any computer store. These items are fairly inexpensive and any technology worker should be able to explain fully in the set up. Good luck to you.

What you need is a parallel cable... DB25 (25 pin). Unfortunately cables are not always cheap so check Ebay. The back of your PC should have a long port ... that's the parallel port aka LPT1. The port on the back of your system should be near the monitor port.

most if not all computers today have a printer port (aka Parallel port) on the back, you might just be looking for the wrong connection.since the connection on the printer would be a different shape than what's on the computer

this photo shows both ends of a printer cable

and this webpage shows what to look for on the back of your pc

a 15 foot cable is around 15 bucks

Does it have a port that looks like a large phone jack. If so you can use your ethernet card on you computer to connect to the printer.

look for a printer wire -> usb converter. see if there are any. If there are only USB slots in ur thing, there might be this really longish slot where ur thing fits into. Mine's purple :P
