Hi I am a nutritionist
it is still OK for your baby to get the majority of his nutrients from formula! keep trying with small amounts of solids (but not junk food like some people have suggested)
Suggestions for finger foods:
cubed soft foods
grated or scraped apple, pear, carrots
small pieces of ripe banana or avocado
sliced kiwi
cooked carrots/peas/green beans
cubed cooked yams, sweet or white potatoes
unsweetened dry breakfast cereals (cheerios, etc.)
slivers or finely chopped pieces of meat that has been softened with broth or warm water
cubes, strings, or small pieces of cheese
cooked pasta in shapes and colors sprinkled with some parmesan cheese
whole-grain bread strips
pieces of toast or crackers
dry waffles baby can carry around
children under five will not naturally over or under eat as long as you are offering healthy choices your baby will eat enough, remember also that as growth slows so do caloric needs and your baby will naturally eat less (there is no need to worry)

Please take into consideration that babies have taste buds too.
I mean, have you ever tried store brand baby food? It's gross!
My son is 6 months old and I make EVERYTHING he eats.
He has never even had a taste of that processed, old, crappy jarred food and other baby foods.
Since your baby is now 11 months old, he should be able to eat solids.
Do not buy those finger foods they sell at the store. Make your own.
Continue feeding him purees for a few months in case he can't handle the solids.
As for the solids, steam or boil vegetables like potatoes, yams, carrots, peas, cabbage, broccoli, etc.
Steam or boil them until they are very soft and sprinkly some salt on them.
You can also feed your baby soup. I feed my son pureed homemade soup and he loves it! What I mean by pureed is that I put the boiled vegetables and meat from the soup in the blender with some broth and it comes out as a puree.
Since your baby is older than mine, you don't have to puree the soup. Just make vegetable, chicken noodle, or any other soup and cut the veggies and meat inside the soup very small.
You can also make him scrambled eggs with cheese. That is my son's favorite. He always wants more of it. It is also a very good source of protein. Remember to cook the egg according to how much your baby can chew. I cook my scrambled eggs very soft and make sure they are very scrambled so my son can chew it.
Also buy fresh, ripe (ripe is better because ripe is softer and of course much better tasting) fruits and cut them into tiny pieces for him.
Good luck!

Well, first.....is he teething? My 12 month old has been teething really bad, if he is it may be hurting him when he eats, and that's why he doesn't want to. If he is teething, try some tylenol, teething tablets, and baby orajel all at the same time! It works for my daughter. If he isn't teething I would say just keep trying. Try different things. He will eat when he is ready though, and if all he will eat for now are cheerios and crackers, then feed them to him. It's better to have something in his stomach then nothing. Just keep trying to offer him things and eventually he will probably start feeding himself. Have you tried toast? pancakes? diced fruit, or veggies? If you try the veggies just make sure they are cooked so they will be soft. Good luck!!!

Make sure the doctor rules out any physical reason. How much juice does he drink? Is he filling up on liquid instead? I would cut down on the liquid intake and keep offering different finger foods, or fresh fruit. Don't make a big deal about the eating. The last thing you want is a power struggle over it because ultimately he will win. When you are eating say things like "yum. yum is this ever good". eventually, he will decide to try different things if they keep being offered. Good Luck.

well he should be eating all kinds of solids by now... if he will eat the solids but not from a spoon try an infa feeder... those are bottles for solids and the nipple has a criscross opening when they suck it, the food moveds up the bottle til it's gone... my oldest hated the spoon and that is how I had to feed her for awhile... does he flip out with the spoon ? Or just won't eat ? It may be worth a try just sitting food infront of him, etting him play with it and get it to his mouth himself and then give him a toddler spoon to feed himself,.. it certainly can't help, try mashed poatoes or maybe chunges of bananas or maybe even try like corn curls those dicentigrate fast... my kids loved the bananas and apple cookies from gerber.. he still needs to get his formula or breast milk in too... I have posted a few links below for suggestions... hope this helps..

Your baby will eat when he's ready to eat, never fear. If there is fever and vomiting then you need to take him to the doctor he may have an infection or other problem. Some of the time babys who are teething refuse to eat due to teething problems. Try soft foods like pudding, jello, something that will go down with ease.

He'll eat when he is hungry. Steamed cubed carrots (until soft and then chilled). Bananas. Roasted sweet potatoes. Rice porridge cooked or flavored with lean hamburger or ground pork or ground chicken or fish.

Try something that smells good. Vanilla pudding...chicken soup...
if he's teething it could be that he doesn't want to chew. Appeal to his sense of smell with something that he won't have to chew.
