months and the registering state wants the family your child is living with to obtain guardianship, How is that done, do you go to the court to explain?? What is the procedure for something like that.

You don't do it, you argue and fight with them. If you give guardianship to someone, you are giving away all of your rights and could have trouble getting them back.

You can give them power of attorney to act in your behalf for the children. But I would hire an attorney to fight it.

You can get the parents or whoever has legal custody to sign an agreement for temporary guardianship. Most larger towns have a legal or law clinic that can assist you with this for no cost or very little cost.

Just give the family that the child is living with a "Power of Attorney". It's very simple to do. Go to an attorney, most will do it VERY cheaply. Otherwise, you can purchase a form (or download one from google) and have it notorized. Present a notorized copy to the school.
