I want a fish so aggressive, it will tear up anything, what is the best for fresh water? I dont want to spend more then $30 on one. I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank, with no existing fish, so what is the best?

PS I love pirahnas so if you know of the most aggressive piranha let me know, i heard its the black pirahna, is this true?

Pirahnas would be a lot more expensive than most fish to feed and take care of. One very aggressive fish is the Oscar, if you get more than one they would be ok only if you get them at the same time and they are the same size or the bigger would attack. Their fins on their backs are like getting a nasty paper cut if it cuts you.

What the fish would be useful, but chances are its not going to change much. You can try removing the fish for an hour or so and re-arrange the tank so it believes its entering a new home, and see if that will change it however, i think the other fish will have already be conditioned to get out of its way so its likely to start all over again. So you have to make a choice him or the other 7 fish. AJ

Tiger Muskie is an Apex preditor, and without a doubt one of the most coolest to raise up in the Esox family. Problem is that after about a year he/she will reach about 20/24 inches so either be ready to sell it off to a fish farm, or have a pet store willing to take it off your hands.

Never release a fish back into the wild once it's been in an aquarium, unless you have permission from the DNR in your state, and then (and only then) it would have to be in a private pond that you (or someone you knew) owned (and it would have to not be connected to any major waterway(s)).

Ha ha ha - how about a shark? lol. Pirhana's, Cichlids, and Oscars are pretty AGGRESSIVE...you would have to actually go to a fish site to find out what's more aggressive than those...why exactly do you want a mean fish?!?! What are you trying to get rid of? (*gulp!*)

Aggression comes in different forms (breeding-related aggression, territorial aggression, predatory aggression, just to name a few).

Extremely territorial aggressive african cichlids include:

- melanochromis chipokae
- melanochromis auratus (I witnessed a 5" auratus totally punk a foot long oscar once)
- metriaclima lombardoi ('kenyi')

These species can easily carry out killing sprees or totally dominate a tank full of other aggressive fish.

Recommended for responsible fish keepers only.

I don't know anything about pirahnas, but I do know about convict cichlids.

I had 7 freshwater fish called "convict cichlids" and they reproduced so rapidly that I ended up with over 200 of them, so I had to keep giving them away. Well, then I noticed they were absolutely tearing up my goldfish's tails, and they kept eating my mollies. After watching them closely for a few days and having dead goldfish (I'm talking about HUGE goldfish like the size u could eat) I saw that those cichlids were just ramming them and terrorizing them.
Did some research on them and found that they don't thrive well with other fish at all. Got rid of them all.

Decided that the reason they're called convict cichlids is cuz of their markings==they're white with black stripes like prisoners, and they act like P.O.'d prisoners, too. When the females are pregnant or just have babies, they will turn almost completely black. It's pretty cool to watch them.

Hope this helps.....}

I had oscars that ate everything else in the tank. Even if they couldn't swallow the other fish they killed them and then swam around with the fish in their mouth. They ate my plecostomus and all my snails too, just kinda sucked them right out of their shells. I started out with 3 baby red tiger oscars and after they killed everything in the tank they started fighting amongst themselves. I had one survivor and he got HUGE, but he died during a move. I still sorta miss the big meanie.
