Or more specifically do you imagine, terrible things happening and how you'd react?

Example on a plane and imagining the plane crashed and you were the only concious person.

A train derails....

etc..

I do and I think of how I would react in such an emergency. Personally though, I don't know if I would act the same if an emergency took place compared to my imagination, especially if zombies came, (my biggest fear)!

Yes.

Sometimes it is one way we prepare ourselves for different eventualities.

Example, if the car coming towards you pulls into your lane and a head-on collision is imminent...what will you do?

The answer may differ depending on whether you envision you are driving, riding a bicycle or walking.

Now that I re-read your question, are you reading the back cover of "Unbreakable" as you write your question? If so, Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson may send you a special Christmas card.

Yes, it is called survival. It is always better to have played out in your mind what you would do in a given situation then to have it come at you with total shock. One thing I always tell myself is, no matter what, the first rule is to try to stay calm. Those who stay calm are more likely to get out alive.
