I would recommend Metal Edge magazine if you are not looking for the teeny bopper type. It has a wide variety, from alternative(Nirvana) to hard rock(Cure) to metal-types(Siouxsie and the Banshees).

I read kerrang! which is great. It tells you about rock music, has a comic strip in each issue called Pandora which is funny. It has interviews with bands about upcoming singles and albums and when they are going on tour. It also covers bands that aren't famous. Its £2 i think (i have subscription though). Its well worth the money from my opinion and includes posters, a place for mail and rants about bands and stuff. I think its great and maybe you will to?
