Most of the main stream music involves a lot of collaboration, so the racial lines are slowly smearing. To be totally honest the only music that I can tie to a specific race is country music. Except for Cowboy Troy , I would say it is least diverse. I think this genre plays to a certain crowd. I don't really see them collaborating with any other type of music. As long as the listener is enjoying the music and not pretending to be something they're not or trying to please another group of people it think it's okay.

I think everyone does but without an element of malice.

Rock does have it's roots in black popular music though. However, it isn't a demerit. Here - the fellow passed away some time ago but if you ever get a chance, there's this beautiful thing called ' Odunde ' by an African man called Olatunji Olatun.

It's about the harvest time. In it is this majestic grandeur that gives a powerful feeling, yet benign, nearly religious. At the same time, it seems to capture that vastness and grandeur we have in our minds' eye of Africa.

Especially where the mountains are tall. I get a feeling of a golden sunset casting deep shadows off those mountains where the people are gathered together singing ... in thankfulness.

I'm part black, so everyone thinks that I should be in love with hip-hop and R&B, but.... NO! It's so derogatory to women I can't stand most of it. But I love rock and contemporary rock/pop. So I can't stereotype music to a certain race. Most people do though.

Sometimes I do in my head. Sorry. It isn't right to do that, I'm just being honest. But I do associate with a type of music. It helps when people bring up questions like this--makes you think and know it isn't correct to stereotype.

I sort of do. I mean, honestly, most black people drift towards R&B because it is commonly listened to in certain black cultures in communities. But that does not mean it is necessary for every black person to enjoy the same type of music. Every individual enjoys different things.
