i think for some ppl being something AMERICAN is a blessing and good, maybe some black ppl like to be called that as now they r officially americans, or the name was given to them by white ppl to avoid their anger..
white have no problem whatsoever..they never suffered slavery or anything..so they r fine with being called white and its a bit superior..
i live in Britian and black people are not called African British,, they r just black and it's not racist..its racist when u say stuff like ****''er but not when u refer to the color..
i think everyone should be comfortable with who they are..

The fixation with race in united statesa. is surprising and by no skill being an American myself yet having been born in Africa, i'm baffled as to this fixation. i'd stay elsewhere yet i'm one hundred% proud to be an African. it really is totally noble that African individuals want to be talked about with their "roots" in Africa. the reality is they're not African yet are individuals comprehensive end. clone of an Irish American isn't Irish yet is an American even even with the undeniable fact that his kin roots are in eire. what's incorrect with being noted as an American besides?. As to the colour aspect - it really is only a colour "black" and "white". previously i'm getting heckled about the way it really is more desirable than that and it shows segregation days properly i'm of blended race black and white and that i'm brown and grew up lower than segregation in africa so comprehend all about segregation and that i shelter that it really is only a colour and that i visit't see why everybody should be embarrassed about being noted as "black" or "white" or "brown". it really is change into an problem because human beings make it an problem, rather of basically getting on with the corporate of residing and respecting and celebrating each and each others' transformations.

A lot of white people are also called Caucasian. It just depends on the area and who you're talking to when you hear race descriptions.

Not all blacks are called African American. Many other cultures do not refer to themselves as just white. Ever heard of the term Italian American or French Canadian?

I have wondered that too. I hate when I have to call my self white as a race. I would rather say Caucasian since I am not White in color. I am of polish and italian descent, my skin is far from white.

In what race description? Formally it's usually "caucasian". Otherwise, there have never been any negative connotations widely associated with being called white - i.e. it hasn't been used as a racial slur - so no one cares about being called white.

Because everyone in this country is too uptight about offending people. I've seen white being changed to caucasian though.

Because we're proud to be white. I only call blacks "African American" because I am afraid of offending someone. Just be proud to be black, and we'll call you black!
