Doesn't the USA need to lead the world thru example? Certainly we aren't trying to hide something. Right?

Because it would allow US officials and US soldiers to potentially be tried by a foreign court.

And the US does not want to give up that jurisdiction over its citizens.

The US govt's recent history of violating the Geneva Conventions have just added one more reason to oppose 'leading by example'.

The original language of the War Crimes treaty have been changed which is why the US wont sign. It calls for international approval before military action, which is something I hope we never do.

Gonzalaz knows that this would open a whole other mess because we have violated most of them anyway.Gonzallas will try to skirt the issue for as long as she can ( she as in a ho lawyer) is hung like the rest,i perdict the whole cabnet will be brought on formal charges and hopefully the death penality because thats what the violation calls for,notice ashcfoft and powell got out to distance themselves

The treaty isn't against war crimes, it's trying to limit the power of the U.S.

Do you want your son or daughter to be tried in another country?
By their laws?
We try our own... other countries try there own too.
We don't need a two bit country to start trying Americans.
The US is the fairest country on earth.
Innocent till proven guilty.

We refuse to sign it because it is not in our best interest to be a signatory on it. We do not / cannot allow foreign courts to have jurisdiction over our military or it's leadership.
