I have heard that ink is wasted every time the printer is turned on again. I have a new Epson Stylus CX7800, connected to my PC, which is running Microsoft XP. Are there drawbacks to having the printer on even when the PC is off?

Also, I have heard that Epson Inks dry up fast, and clog the nozzles. I don't see how leaving the printer on would keep this from happening. Is this true of the "new" DuraBrite Ultra inks?

I have heard from Epson that by turining the printer off, it 'caps' the nozzles, prevents the drying and is thereby the recommended action. Any comments from your experiences?

I turn off the power. If you dont use the printer/scanner a lot I would recommend it off because it saves energy and anyways it does not take long to turn it back on. With wasting ink, I think u probably are talking that only when you do when u r in the middle of a printing process the ink is wasted if you turn the printer off.

don't turn it off... specially when it comes to Epson printers otherwise your inks will get dried.

and don't worry it doesn't waste any ink keeping it ON..
the problem with epson that their inks dried up very fast .. because their print head come with max 90 nozzles in wach ink thats why when it appears to the Air these nozzles get cloged thats why the ink dried up very fast.

so, keep your printer ON and it's ok you can turn your computer Off..

Yes - you want to keep that printer on. This way will not waste so much ink for initialization and you can avoid the ink to dry out and damage the print head.

However if is ON will eat power that so you pay for electricity (not too much).

Check if that printer has an energy save mode.
