I supplemented this with a few sunflower seeds and their treats. A few neat things about gerbils is that they are diurnal and the pair can be kept together when the pups are born. Daddy helps with the babies. The female's gestation period is about 21 days. Gerbils are old enough to breed at 3 months old. They pair for life. It is very hard to introduce a new mate. If you split your pair up they may not accept each other again. Good luck with your gerbils and have fun with them.
