I am friends with a lady that has a bad reputation on the internet, she has tried to redeem herself, apologized and make amends. I tried to launch my own website, and just because she helped me, and I know her, all the lady yahoo groups have banned me. Is that fair?

Can anyone tell me how to get others to believe that I am not posing as her?

Sometimes you are guilty by association. I am not saying it is right, but just think...
Now this is going to the extreme...

But let's say I have a friend and my friend was friends with a person that was a child abuser. I would really begin to wonder about my friend. To be friends with someone does not mean you agree with the things that person does but it does mean you tolerate it. Most of my friends have the same values I have. In your case, those people are not your "real" friends. I would say don't worry about proving yourself to them. Your friendship is a gift to them. Just move on and get yourself a new group of "net friends"

It's like this, I'm not on many yahoo groups and have no clue what you are talking about.. But let me say this... no two people are the same, and there is a reason for that...(so no one gets left behind) We make friends and loose friends for many different reasons. We can't make everyone happy, but should always be true to ourselves.. You plead your case to everyone else, if they don't believe you, that's their lose.. (They weren't your friends in the first place!) Good luck sweetie.

I've been (a little) guilty of being influenced by another person's opinion of a third party, but in reality you should judge for yourself. That's about a simple as one can put it.

I don't think it's fair on thier part but I guess on their point of view, they don't want to take any chances.
