Saying the "N" word, even among black people*, is not acceptable. Saying "n.i.g.g.a" between black persons is sometimes socially acceptable, but even many black people will be offended by that word, too. It's very important to note that even though "n.i.g.g.a" is very close in spelling and pronounciation to the "N" word it's NOT the "N" word. In fact, the very nature of "n.i.g.g.a" is as a bastardization of the "N" word. It shows that, as a people, black society uses the word "n.i.g.g.a" to strike back at a word that has historically caused so much pain.

But truth be told, if you have to ask then you don't understand the hatred and rascism behind the word -- so you should never use it nor complain that you can't use it.

* It should be said that I chose to use the term "black people" instead of "African American" or "of African descent" since this post in on an Internet-based forum. I cannot assume that the persons you referred to in your question are American or of African descent. So I chose to use the terminology I did as it may have been incorrect for me to use those other two terms. But outside of the limitations I was given to answer this question, in the future just call them people.

Are you for real? I'm of African decent. I don't go around calling other blacks *****r. I would be upset if another black called me a *****r. I don't think that blacks should go throwing that word around like it means something positive because it still is a negative word.

Think of it like this: many black rappers use b*tches and hoes in their music. I would be offended if someone came up to me on the street and said, "Hey b*tch, what's up?" But, that's just me. You might want to be called a b*tch.

My point is that just because some ignorant people use a word freely does not take the negativity away from the word. That is why a black will get angry when a white says it; it still has a negative meaning. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that it is a term of endearment or some crap like that; that is baloney.

I don't use the word and I've been black for 47 years.Just some young idiots started using the word laying claim to something most of us older black people would be ashamed of. We label a person that word when we consider them ignorant.Could be a person of any color. So when I here black people calling others that I just shake my head in disbelief that they are calling each other something we as a people have fought so hard to stop being labled. The word was meant as a derogatory label for a whole race of people.I could go on, but bottom line is ,we need to check our selves.

Well you ARE racist, but the fact is, being black does not exclude THEM from being racist either.

So tell the *****'s to have a coke, a smile, and shut the hell up.

As a side note: It's just one of those ironies of life. Uneducated black people who call themselves the N word are simply that, uneducated. Fact of the matter is, An Educated African American does not want to be associated with those of his/her kind who degrade themselves like that anymore than anyone else does.

Why do you want to use that word. Coming from a white person it is usually meant in a racist manner. If a black person called you a honkey, cracker or something like that, you would probably take it as a racist remark. You say you live in a racially diverse neighborhood, but it sounds like you have issues.

Its is socially acceptable for blacks to say it because it is a word that came with much pain when said by a white person. But now that blacks have in a sense reborn the word by taking off the "er" and placing an "a" behind it it is ok, within thier own race. And you probably dont hear them saying the word ***,ger, you probably her them saying ***.ga, because even if a black person called another black person a ***.ger, those are fighting words. But the word ***.ga is ok. Personally, i dont agree with calling anyone out of the name thier parents gave them, but hey, thats the jacked up society we live in. i hoped that helped you.

P.S- You can say anything you want, its just if you do, you will probably have to face some kind of problem(s) with most of an enitre race. But why would you want to say it any ways?

i think of white or black, there are going to be good people and undesirable people in the two races that are going to apply racial slurs.it somewhat is often whilst white to white or black to black are unhappy and having a combat that they use this trashy language. i do no longer think of people stop and think of whilst they're arguing with somebody. i think of the two are somewhat dumb issues to do and individuals might desire to make the hassle to count quantity to ten then communicate. That or in case you haven't any longer have been given something advantageous, say no longer something in any respect.

See we live in a country that once had this thing call slavery. Where whites use that word as a form of oppression. So we have to remove that kind of thinking from society so that way we want to taking steps backards, when we should be going forward.

Because it is something that is not acceptable and the people who use this word are just waiting to lash out against someone for following their example. I wouldn't worry about it because whoever uses it hold some sort of animosity towards something or someone.

we still live in a very racist world, weather people are willing to admit it or not. believe me, i'm white and my husband is black and from georgia, so when we go visit family, the shoe is on the other foot and i experience racism first hand. and i'm not talking about towards him, i mean towards me. point being JUST DON'T SAY IT. oh and for your F.Y.I it's spelt N.I.G.G.A. maybe thats why people look at you funny, you say it as a racist thing.
