I agree with Tim...you can find anyone over the web because of today's technology. You can even find someone by paying to get personal information on websites. I know this because I took a class where my professor went over this site that had personal information about people. For example, I typed my mother and sister's first and last name and their information pulled up over the internet. When I typed mine it showed nothing. Also I have learned in my Operating Systems Security class that if you type your full name into a search engine like google that also is another way for someone to find information about you too. The best thing for you to do to keep this person from the past from getting new information about yourself is to change all personal information that you might have on the web such as your username, password, last name, address, phone numbers, the town or city you live in, the name of your school, and photos of yourself or your family. Did you know that spammers use this software to get your email address use to spam you with commercial email? Well I just wanted you to know certain ways how someone can get information on you.

By having kick @ss security
;-)
and even then it's still a challenge if they're good enough...
You should look into computer security, network security, and information security. You might find some answers if you study for the "Security +" Certification
;-)
Or by getting a CEH certified person to do all the security work for you LOL (or at least reading up on it if you think you are up for the challenge).
;-)
Muhahahaha...
Or you can look up stuff through google
like "Firewall" "Stealth" "Encryption" and what not...
but do listen to "ncgrl" about the obvious if someone is looking for you in conventional ways (not just through your internet access, but the internet itself). Also I found out that moving alot makes you hard to find, move every 2 years and you should be safe.
Remeber, unless you live in a far remote area and have no access or interactions with no technology what so ever, there is no 100% fullproof security. And even in a remote location, the government satlelights might still catch a glimps of you. Though most normal people (civilains) will not have access to such things. So you can breath easy in remote locations with no tech if corperation(s) and government(s) are NOT after you.
;-)
Good luck!

You can't have credit cards, bank accounts, listed phone numbers, driver license nor can you work as an employee (because your SS records can become available and show the name and address of where you worked two years ago).
You need to start a corporation, possibly in a state like Deleware and then have that corporate own another corporation, possibly off shore. That new corproation that owns your house and car.
That new corporate gets a Federal ID Number and you use it for buisiness or start a 3rd coproration and use that for business. Then the ID numbers goes into the records as a self-employed sub-contractor, of course you have to provide your own workman's comp insurance and pay all our taxes.
A person can still find you this way, it will take a lot of work, effort and payment off fees. It could also them them 1 - 2 years to track this down.
The weakest area is the world is Social security, but they are six months to 3 years behind in record keeping, so if you move today and get a new job it will take until 2008 for that job to generally show on the print-out, unless SS has suddendly become ultra efficient!

Never give out your personal info online. Invest in a good spyware or spam blocker.
Even with the best of them, that won't stop them 100%. Some things you can do yourself, are to identify spam. For instance, if you get a letter in your email, saying you are next of kin, or to help someone in a foreign country, that is spam. Most of them claim they live in a foreign country, that they are dying or someone has died, and they will cut you in on the profits if you claim to be next of kin, but they want you to send your info to an IP address in the states. Google their names or businesses, and you can find out if they have taken others before. Report them as spam. Also some will say that they are a company you do business with, like paypal, or ebay. They will say if you don't give them your information, your account will be closed. They don't even have your name on it. That means, they don't know you. Call the company directly, before you do anything else. You will see it was a lie.

Try not to give out any personal info. When you are signing up for somthing like aim or a game dont use real info. That is pretty much all that I can think of right now.

the lesser you have about yourself the better.
easy way to start is... to key your name(s) up on google.com and see how many times you pop up.
then you can go to those sites (in most cases that is) you can contact them to remove the information or you can sign on, log in to remove your information... (remember you don't have to use your real information to register.) or request to have the information removed/deleted.
it's your right to be anonymous in most cases.
those who have your information legally well that's something that always happens.. city, state, government, county, any files that your local government may have.. that stuff is well WAS protected.
this isn't much but it does help. it's also good to know what is out there with your information on it. the more you know the better actually. you can't get rid of it all but you do have rights.. in most cases someone would have to pay to get your information.. (online) if you have a problem with this person you may want to talk to someone about this who have legal ability in situations like this.
try these things and ask, ask and ask.. it doesn't hurt to ask.
city hall can help to if this person wishes to obtain your information the old fashioned way through records via the library, city hall of course and so on.
it's your right to remain anonymous... well unless you owe a company/agency more than $10,000 or the IRS.. they have to know where you are and all that.

long tale short, they record what you variety and the place you variety it. So in the experience that your financial business enterprise is financial business enterprise of u . s . a ., and you circulate to that internet site and put in your person call and password, the virus will record the call and pass you typed at that internet site, and then deliver it back to the hacker. IP address do no longer incorporate too lots sensible suggestion.

you can't. You can do some things to make it harder to get quick info like DO NOT POST PICS OF YOURSELF OR PERSONAL INFO. Change any user names or instant messenger names the person knows you have used before. Don't post your location anywhere on a profile or message board.

remove the connection from computer to modem.
given a few minutes and enough interest i can "gain root" on your machine and figure out every keystroke you've ever punched. you want security? don't connect to internet.
that said, perhaps you could go live in a cave in afghanistan, i understand even the us government has a hard time locating someone there.
