Were they as good as the Beatles, back in the 60's.

They were great! The first band to hit the U.S.A. during the British invasion, first to play Ed Sullivan. Dave played drums. They were more "blues" oriented. "Glad All Over" and "Bits and Pieces" were among their 24 big hits. Mike Smith sang lead. Their movie "Catch us if you Can" was not bad. They are comparable to a mixture of the Beach Boys, the Monkees, the Who, in reverse order, and in their white turtlenecks, somehow never made the impact on teenage girls that groups like the Beatles, the Stones, and Kinks did. But they were big!!!!!

Of course I remember the Dave Clark 5. They were never as good as the Beatles, nor nearly as popular, and they folded long before the Beatles as well.

Yes I remember. Glad All Over is my favorite. I like how they're kind of yelling the whole time. It has a lot of good energy....

hbangelicat has it right. They were a fun group, but certainly not in the Beatles' league.

Sure...I watched them on Bandstand and Hullabaloo! Ah, the memories. They were very cool, but probably not on the same level as the Fab Four.
