I have to change trans fluid & filter in my 1994 GMC Safari with 4.3 vortex engine & 4 speed automatic tranny. Can someone help me out?

it holds 5 quarts if you are just changeing the fluid and filter if you are changeing the converter also it will hold 11 quarts but just changeing the filter you will need 5 quarts add 3 1/2 and start car let run at idle 2 to 3 mins. and add rest after it runs another few mins. check it to make sure you are at proper level

It depends, did you drain the torque converter? Tranny holds around 4 quarts and the torque converter holds another 3 or 4. Fill it 1 quart at a time. Try not to overfill, very important. You don't want to damage the transmission. Good luck.

I would say 5 quarts of oil would be the limit but if it is not 4 might be but you got 1 quart in reserve if you need it if it fills it on 4 check that first then if it takes all 5 and still needs nore your still safe to drive it till you caan add more soon then remember how much it used next time

It has been my experience that it'll be about 4 quarts. After 3 quarts you can start her up and check your dip-stick and then you can't go wrong! Be sure to drop her into drive then back into park while she's running to get an accurate reading.
