Because they're cowards, but they know how to push our buttons.
They know that we respect life. They know that hostages give them bargianing chips. We won't casually kill innocents (well, not most of the time) to kill a terrorist, because our culture tells us that innocents are to be protected. Extremists don't have this view.

terrrosists know exactly how to get to americans so they take
the lives of people we love and care about. even if we don't know
the people that have died from mallicious acts of terroists, we still
have a heart or atleast I'd like to think alot of us do. my heart goes
out to anyone who has lost a family member, a friend or a lover
from terrorists attacks. god bless the USA!!

Because terrorists are funded by governments, and their main goal is to incite fear. The fear is used to pass illegal bills that fly directly in the face of the accepted system. They erode the freedom of the people one law at a time until all you can do is wait until they come for you and your family.
