Don't be too quick to judge. Remember we're on the internet. There are some people who might be in distant lands whose maternal language is not English. There are people who speak 3 or 4 languages, so the fact that they spell a wrong word shouldn't bother us. But perhaps now that you asked the question and expressed your concern, people will start to be more careful.
I would agree, however, that even English people have a problem
with the two words.

One would hope it's due to a nervous right fourth finger.
More likely, it's either an attempt at phonetic spelling or a means of accentuating the condition implied by the word.
Sadly, it's probably due to either too much IM-speak or laxity in proofreading their writing combined with a disregard as to how others will perceive them via their writing.

People spell different ways yet get their meaning over. then some just don't know how to spell period. It would be nice to
have an internet course. Let me know when it start.

Actually, and if you've been on Yahoo long enough, "looser" is the Official Yahoo spelling of "loser".

Because spelling is not stressed enough in school? Yes, it most certainly does bug me--but then all my friends and co-workers call me the spelling nazi! :)

I think it's just to emphasis the word loser. I have seen people using this....loooooser.....so, that it sounds long, not short.
