I think its because by categorizing others, it allows them to also assign a categoriy to themselves. By identifying categories they feel are beneath them makes them feel better about their own category.

to each their own? even those who wish to categorize? you cant get to know very many people very well so you have to make huge generalizations. it is wrong to do this to everyone but unless you want to spend your whole life with the five people you know well, you have to make some assumptions about people to survive in society.

Unlike Tommy, I agree with you. Stereotyping people leads to bigotry and racism, and we have so much of it!! Respect for others and others' opinions is sadly needed in our society.

most definately, i think if you don't like me or are going to judge me then stuff you.... but alot of it is basic human nature to feel the need to put people in a certain catergory!!!
