I would feel a bit worried to answer a serious medical question here because one never know when they are answering someone dumb enough to take your answer for fact.
I have alwasys asked them to talk to a doc on serious stuff.

I don't think anyone here - including the medical professionals who share their knowledge - would even remotely suggest that you should use any information gathered here in place of asking a doctor.

But often people want to hear what experiences others have had. Take menstrual stuff - every woman is so different that experiences are helpful and putting one's own issues in perspective. Sometimes people just want to know if something is "normal" cuz it'll cost them money they might not have to see a doctor. And often people will get a diagnosis, freak, and not know where to start looking for help, support, and information. Sad to say, not all doctors are good at that part of their job.

Laymen have gone through certain medical problems, and it is helpful to hear from them, but it is not a substitute for going to a doctor.I think most ppl. know enough not to let this site become their doctor.

sometimes it is good to get information from someone who has experienced some medical condition/problem first hand. A requirement for being a heart doctor is not to have a heart attack. A cardiologist can tell you symptons and what to expect, etc... A person who experienced it can tell you what they did, how they coped, etc...

If you want my honest opinion, doctors are just as stupid as anyone, and can and will make mistakes. Make your own informed decisions, whatever that might be, and always seek another opinion.
