There is some neat stuff you can buy at any hardware store that will put a brand new finish on old porcelain. I have never tried it so I can't tell you how good it is. I was intimidated. But if you are more adventurous than go for it. On the down side, I was worried that the new finish would chip away after time. I do know you have to leave it bone dry for many days for it to harden. You will not be able to use it for at least 3 days.
Go to Home Depot or some like store and ask the very knowledgeable young men and women about this product.

Go to a hardware store, and see if they carry a product call CLR. (calcium, lime and rust) It works really well.
