Ok, since when did all of this depression hit us?! Everyone seems to be all about the EMO kid thing, and skaters, and haters, and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I have ABSOLUTELY nothinh against these people, but I just think they're doing this because it's so main stream. It gets me angry, what ever happened to the good ol' happy, dancing boogie time, cheerful days?! What is up with music....it's getting worse and worse (some of it anyway). What is up with people??? Cheer up! It's not cool to be depressed eh...

I'm Canadian and I'm pretty sure I don't say "eh" or not much; besides wouldn't that just be Fonz envy (ayyy!)?

Actually music about the blues, or heartbreak is far from new. The funny thing is that sometimes that kind of music isn't depressing so much as it makes one feel like you're not alone.

My favorite band as a teen was Survivor; their name was appropriate considering their songs were about being a loner, surviving, falling in love. I realize now that the music was really heavy for someone of my age to be listening to but I enjoyed it.

Some of the blues music is sort of sad and yet the singer gives it an emotion/direction that makes it more than what it might seem.

Y'know, you are soo right. I am a little guilty of that also, but I have improved. There are a million reasons to be sad, angry, and depressed, but there are also a million reasons to enjoy life and just be happy. I don't know about anyone else, but I have more fun when I'm happy.

I do understand how you feel but I go with the flow and like just what I like and ignore the rest . I have enough depression just trying to be a good person ..I don't dwell on what I don't approve of.

People know more about depression, and there are a lot of drug companies trying to sell their antidepressants, too. I'm sure a lot of those "happy" people were self-treating with illicit drugs, or just play-acting and hoping to pass as happy.

Just ignore it, it will go away (until the day yer teenager pistol-whips you & steals yer money). I don't know, my 2 daughters (25 & !8) are so insistent on being thug beeches. I wish they would really become beech & turn into trees for a bit of time, might help calm them down. lol?
