First, Democrat is not the same as liberal. There is a significant overlap, but the two groups are not identical. In fact, most of the people I know who describe themselves as liberal do not support the Democratic party.
Second, as a political party, the Democrats are largely disorganized, and lacking any strong coherent message or platform (other than bashing Republicans). So, why would anyone support them except out of party loyalty?

I was a Democrat for about 10 years. In 2004 I changed to Republican Why?? Well, Honestly I couldn't stand Kerry & all the flip flopping & lying of the Democratic party anymore!
Then last year when I move I changed to Independant! Why???
Well part of it was so I would not be affiliated w/ any party!
& I came to the conclusion that I will never fully agree with either party... & was/am pi$$ed off over the whole illegals entering the country issue!
However the Republicans do stand true to the issues I find important.. That is Me though!
....To me it really don't matter who I am "affiliated" with. I vote according to who holds the same core beliefs as me & who I feel would best protect this country & keep it moral & sane!
Hey if the Democrats would run Zell Miller I would be on board quicker than you can say Boo! I love Zell Miller!
The reason I WILL NOT vote for any of the Liberal Democrats:..
Because of things they stand behind & support!
.... things like....pro-abortion (pro-baby killing), homosexual marriage (perverted unions), Global warming, Environmentalism, terrorists rights, they have no sense of right or wrong..good or evil...They have. No Moral Standards & I know they will not Defend this country! (negotiating does NOT count!!) they want more government ran programs, & more of government hands in our lives, higher taxes, & they have socialist like agendas!
I also don't vote for Liberal Democrats because of
what they DO NOT support.. like our troops & the war on terrorism, God, normal family structure, capitolism,
Pretty much they totally go against what America stands for*period* FREEDOM.
They are very negative & un-supporting of our Military & Country.. Seems like they side more with the terrorists & their "rights" than the war effort to give freedom to the people of Iraq!
It is sickening & sad!
Also this is my "petty" reason... Because they can not accept defeat... You win some.. You Loose some! But instead of gracefully & maturly getting over it & backing our President.. & OUR TROOPS!
They turned it into a big Bush bashing agenda! A boo hoo, sore looser fest!... It is soo elementary school immature!
They totally lost any respect -or- interest I might have had in voting for ANY of them....... for a good long time!

I am an independent in the terms I do not claim a party. That does not mean I will not vote for someone from the party. I want to hear what has to be said. I do not want to say because I am union I am democrat or because I go to church I am a republican. I want to make my decision based on what the canidate stands for based upon my beliefs. More times then not that happens to be democrat. However, if John McCain get the repulican nod in '08, I will most likely vote for him. I have read alot about him and he seems like someone that could support the interest I am concerned with.

Wingnuts ? As a true independent I think that the current state of affairs in this country are more than unacceptable.. but I draw a line at the "one or the other" intersection. Because I am dissatisfied with one does not mean that I am automatically in step with the other ? However the constant berating of anyone is offensive to me and I will tell you along with all the other Neogoons.. that you are no more Conservative than Ralph Nader is a Democrat.. Independent means independent..

Liberals want the gorvernment to meddle into too many things...which always costs money.
Also, liberals seem to think it's fine that the supreme court sometimes issues rulings that are complete AGAINST what the law clearly says. They pass it off by saying...well, the constitution is a "living document". Which is certainly true...and it clearly delineates how it should be changed...not just by having a judge say..."Well, I know the law TECHNICALLY says this...but (wink - wink) we're going to pretend it says something else."
Also, liberals seem to think that we should be judged based on our group identity, rather than on our individual worthiness (or lack of).
Conservatives are often guilty of some of the same things, as well. I'm a Libertarian, and have been disgusted with both political parties recently.

Here are the basic reasons I don't like them.
First is their insistence that they are always right. No matter how many facts I produce they still want more or discount my facts as lies...even when I present facts from their very own website. (for instance the DNC support of Israel. I provided the link to dnc.org with Dean's position AND then I added the AIPAC donation list). The myth that the DNC are against the rich and for the working and poor....LOL Ya they write bills to make rich pay taxes. But they put in such huge loop holes in those laws a first year tax attorny can drive a Hummer through them.
Second their platform is based on pandering for votes. They try to buy votes from every group they can by offering government services and cash. (farmers-COP checks, poor-welfare checks, old- SS checks, environmentalists-grants for research, unions-unbid government contracts etc....). Because of this history they have been unable to provide a clear platform including a PLAN on how to achieve their goals. Their six steps as found on their website dnc.org, sound like they were written by a Miss Teen USA contestant. They are "for" all this great stuff but they do not tell us HOW they plan to make them a reality. Instead it is one paragraph of what they are "for" and then ten pages of how Bush and the GOP are messing up on that topic.
I'm sick of the fear crap too...acid rain, global warming and governemnt conspiracy...blah blah blah....
I dislike the DNC because they think they are smarter than us and we are all stupid.

Nothing! I would vote for a Democrat any day over Fascist Republicans! I have at times voted Republican in local races, but never a national one! Am I Glad!
Bush Jr the 91 IQ alcoholic deserter cokehead!
Bush, the 98 IQ president who started the 2.1 Trillion, that we had to Bail Out, Savings and Loan Scandal!
Reagan, the war criminal who was supplying weapons to our enemy in Iran/Contra and took him a year to remember it!
Nixon, next to Bush, the worst president in US history! He resigned so he could get his pension rather than be the 1st president in US history to be impeached!!
You guy's are just brilliant!

Because they are a part of the problem. It's been either Dems or Repubs since the 1800's. Let's get a REAL party for change, and not the same old BS!

They are too liberal for my taste. I don't like either party, but if I had to choose, like seriously had to, I would choose Republicans because I think Ann Coulter is very attractive.
